Step-By-Step Instructions

Step 1

Use a Leveler Card or an old charge card or a plastic putty knife to remove any loose splinters in the area to be filled, especially splinters that rise above the plane of the surface.

 

Step 2

Pick the color of Fill Stick that is closest to the finish on your furniture. If there is no exact match, a color that is a little too dark will look better than a color that is too light.

 

Step 3          

Briskly rub the end of the Fill Stick over the damage, applying pressure as you rub. Stop the application when the damage is filled.

 

Step 4

Scrape away the excess Fill Stick material with the Leveler Card, old credit card or a plastic putty knife. Angle the card in the direction you are scraping.  Scrape until the fill is even with the wood.

 

Step 5

Excess wax around the repair area will appear shiny.  Use a soft, clean cloth to wipe away the excess wax around the edge of the fill.  Be careful not to wipe the repair.


Frequently Asked Questions

How can I fill a small gouge in my furniture where some of the wood is chipped out?

You can use a Fill Stick to fill small gouges where some of the wood is chipped out. Pick the color of Fill Stick that is closest to the color of your furniture (too dark is better than too light). Rub the end of the stick briskly back and forth over the damage, applying pressure on the stick until the damage is filled. Use a leveler card or an old credit card to scrape off excess material. 

Are Fill Sticks appropriate for use on woodworking such as door jams?

Fill Sticks are appropriate for most indoor applications, as long as nothing hot will touch the surface. For example, they would not be suitable for a counter top, but would be suitable for a cabinet door.

Are Fill Sticks appropriate for wooden chair seats?

Fill Sticks are not used on areas where clothing will come in contact with the repair.  Fill Sticks are appropriate for the legs and stretchers of wooden chairs.

Are Fill Sticks appropriate for filling dents on dining room table tops?

Fill sticks are not used on areas where there is a lot of "traffic." Any place that gets touched often and might have a table cloth over the area is not a suggested spot for using a Fill Stick.
