You know us, we're big suckers for wood décor. This is why we
about fell over when we heard that our blogger friend, Bethany from
Reality Daydream, challenged 28
fellow DIYers to craft their own wood art piece.
The rules were simple:
- Your final piece needs to be square.
- Must be made primarily out of wood.
And really, that's it. We're not surprised these DIYers ran wild
with the challenge, which is why we wanted to highlight just a few
of our favorites (though we keep rotating between all of them if
we're being totally honest).
Wood
and Mirror Geometric 3D Wall Art by Reality
Daydream
This illusion art incorporates pieces of mirror strategically
placed amongst natural and stained wood. To add dimension to this
piece, she used
Behlen Solar Lux in Maple Brown. When we say this stain is easy
to apply, we really mean it- just wipe it on!
Brick
Reclaimed Wood Wreath Hanger by Her Tool Belt
Her Tool Belt raided her barnwood stash to create this reclaimed
brick inspired wall art. We love the idea of repurposing something
old and making it brand new. Who doesn't love that barn house
touch? She even added a seasonal wreath to the front of it to
give her home a touch of spring.
Recycled Wood Pallet Project by House Becoming
Home
House Becoming Home couldn't resist the challenge and put her
cabinet making on hold to step up to the plate. Don't let the
design of this one discourage you. This recylced wood pallet
project is like putting together a puzzle (a really intricate
puzzle).
Cherry Java Clock by Lazy Guy DIY
You've been challenged to create something square and made of
wood. First thought? Coffee clock. Leave it to Lazy Guy DIY to take
this challenge to the next step by incorporating coffee beans,
cherry lumber, and epoxy for a fully functional wood clock.
DIY Wood Art Using Woodburning Tool by Hazel + Gold
Designs
Hazel + Gold Designs dug out her woodburning tool to craft this
detailed mandela design. What an artist!
Wooden Wall
Art by Sawdust 2 Stitches
So you said it has to be a square? How about 4 squares then!
Sawdust 2 Stitches gave this geometric design a modernized spin.
We're loving the simplicity behind it!
Now that you've had a taste of the creativity, head over to
