Autumn Decor DIYs

October 02, 2018

Welcome to Fall- the season of cooler weather and changing leaves!

If you're anything like us, you've been itching to get your fall decorations out and up to bring in that fall feeling. Thinking your seasonal décor needs some extra oomph this year? We've put together some of our favorite woodworking DIY projects to help add that special autumn touch to your space.

DIY Barn Wood Shutters by The Frugal Homemaker

When it comes to decorating your mantel, less is usually more. These DIY barn wood shutters are cheap to make and spice up your fireplace without overwhelming it. These wooden shutters are customizable from color to width and height, so they'll perfectly match your space and your style.

Rustic Pallet Pumpkins by Make It & Love It

pumpkin

Decorate your home while staying under budget with these repurposed rustic pumpkin decorations. This tutorial has you pull apart an old pallet but any rustic and weathered looking scrap wood will also do. Decide how tall or fat you want your pumpkins, sketch them out, and cut. Topped off with a stem and fabric banner, these pumpkins will sit pretty well through Thanksgiving.

Recommended products: Epoxy Putty to fill in unsightly nail holes prior to painting or staining

Fall Awaits Hand Lettering Sign by Made in a Day

sign

A different spin on the traditional fall wreath, this hand lettered wooden door sign is both welcoming and warming to your front porch. Using either paint or stain markers, you'll write your seasonal message and decorate with a handful of fake flowers.

Recommended products: Ultra Mark stain markers for easy control while hand lettering your message

Upholstery Pin Pumpkins by Earnest Home Co.

brass

Ditch the carving tools this Halloween for some fancy and modern decorative pumpkins using fabric upholstery tacks. You can place them in a decorative pattern (we love chevron!) or take the spooky route with spiders and ghosts.

Recommended products: Brass Lacquer to shine and buff your metal accents so they really POP!
