How to: Staining with Solar Lux NGR Dye Stain
March 24, 2017
Have you been curious about dye stains? Consider this your crash
course.
What is it?
Solar Lux NGR Dye Stain is an alcohol based dye. Most water
based stains produce a lovely color, but they also raise the wood's
grain. NGR stands for Non Grain Raising. The pigments in the dye
are so tiny that they are absorbed into the wood and become a part
of it. Dyes soak into the wood and stains lay on top. Unlike a
stain, dyes also get darker as you apply more coats. The dye is
transparent and will dry within 5 to 10 minutes.
Why would I use it?
The pigments in an allready made, pre-packaged dye are
usually a higher quality. Most dyes don't like sunlight but Solar
Lux NGR is much more color fast, meaning it withstands the light
from the sun. They hold up and have a beautiful range of color,
completing projects thoroughly with a very little amount
used.
How do I use it?
You can apply Solar Lux NGR Dye Stain by brushing, wiping, or
spraying. The videos below from Pneumatic Addict and Brad Angove
are great to watch for more information on applying the product and
