Ever wondered how to get the best experience when using Behlen's Solar-Lux NGR Dye Stain? We've got some tips that will make your life that much easier.

What makes it different?

Solar Lux NGR Dye Stain is an alcohol based dye. Most water based stains produce a lovely color, but they also raise the wood's grain. NGR stands for Non-Grain Raising. The pigments in the dye are so tiny that they are absorbed into the wood and become a part of it. Dyes soak into the wood and stains lay on top. Unlike a stain, dyes also get darker as you apply more coats. The dye is transparent and will dry within 5 to 10 minutes.

How do you use it?

• Wear gloves to prevent any color transfer onto your skin. If you do by chance get some on yourself, just use warm, soapy water to wash away.
• It's a good habit to test your stain color out on a scrap piece of wood before applying. This way you can get a better idea of how the color will appear, as well as a handle on how to apply the stain evenly and easily.
• Remember that stain darkness depends on the number of coats applied and the length of time the product is left on the surface. The lighter the shade you prefer, the less time you'll want to leave the stain to sit.
